It’s National Chocolate Milk Day!
According to a good ole Google search, September 27 is national Chocolate day.
The drink was invented by a botanist named Hans Sloane in the 1680’s while studying in Jamaica . It is said that the locals were accustomed to drinking cacao mixed with water, but when it was offered to Sloan he did not like it very much. He then mixed the cocoa in milk and found that much better!a
Here are some quick facts about chocolate milk:
- It has about 5 mg of caffeine per 8 ounces when using the Hershey recipe.b
- It has been touted as a great post-workout recovery drink due to the carb to protein ratio and the electrolytes it offers. Studies have even been done on this!c
